Settings
A full reference for every field in SEO Copilot AI Settings — AI provider, PageSpeed, Google Search Console, license, and the optional analytics snippet.
Where to find it
Go to SEO Copilot AI → Settings in your WordPress admin sidebar. Settings is divided into five cards — work through them from top to bottom during initial setup.
Start here if you are setting up for the first time. The AI provider card is the only required configuration. Everything else is optional or plan-dependent.
AI provider
This is the only required section. Without a configured API key, no analyses can be run.
AI provider
RequiredChoose OpenAI to use the standard OpenAI API at api.openai.com. Choose Compatible endpoint to use any service that speaks the OpenAI API format — Azure OpenAI, a local model via Ollama, or another third-party provider.
The model name to use for analysis. Default is gpt-4o-mini — fast, cost-efficient, and suitable for most sites. Use gpt-4o for richer, more detailed output at higher cost. Any model available on your account can be entered here.
Typical cost with gpt-4o-mini: under $0.02 per analysis. Costs are billed directly by your provider and are not included in your SEO Copilot AI plan.
Your API key from your AI provider. For OpenAI, get this from platform.openai.com/api-keys. The key is stored locally in your WordPress database and is never sent to NordicDataTools servers.
Only shown and used when Provider is set to Compatible endpoint. Enter the full chat completions URL for your provider — for example https://your-instance.openai.azure.com/openai/deployments/gpt-4o/chat/completions?api-version=2024-02-01. Leave blank when using standard OpenAI.
When checked, the Analyze view includes plain-language explanations alongside scores and suggestions. Enabled by default. Uncheck if you prefer a more compact results view without the explanatory text.
After saving your API key, always click Test connection to confirm the key is valid and the model is reachable before running your first analysis. A green confirmation message means everything is working.
Google PageSpeed Insights
Adds Core Web Vitals data to every analysis — LCP, CLS, FCP, and an overall performance score. Available on Pro, Business, and Agency plans.
Google PageSpeed Insights
Pro, Business & AgencyAn API key from Google Cloud Console. The key is optional — without it, the plugin uses shared anonymous quota. With a key, you get higher rate limits and more reliable results on busy sites.
To get a key: open Google Cloud Console, create or select a project, enable the PageSpeed Insights API, go to Credentials, create an API key, and paste it here.
Google Search Console
Connects your GSC account to pull real ranking data per page — clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position. Data syncs weekly automatically. Available on Business and Agency plans.
Google Search Console
Business & AgencyThe exact URI shown in your Settings page must be added to the Authorized redirect URIs list in your Google Cloud OAuth 2.0 client before connecting. Copy it precisely — no trailing slashes or modifications.
The Client ID from your Google Cloud OAuth 2.0 credential. Format: …apps.googleusercontent.com. Create this in Google Cloud Console under APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth 2.0 Client ID (Web application type).
The Client Secret paired with your Client ID. Found in the same Google Cloud credentials screen. Store it securely — treat it like a password.
After completing the OAuth flow, select the GSC property that matches your WordPress site. The plugin uses this property to pull per-page ranking data. Save the selected property to activate the weekly sync.
Connection order matters. Save credentials first, then click Connect Google Search Console to start the OAuth flow. After authorizing, return to Settings and select your property from the dropdown before saving again. See the Google Search Console docs page for a full step-by-step walkthrough.
License
The Free plan works without any license key. Pro, Business, and Agency features are unlocked by entering a valid license key purchased at nordicdatatools.com.
License
Optional for FreeEnter the license key from your purchase confirmation email exactly as shown. Click Save & verify to save the key and check it against the NordicDataTools license server in one step.
If the plan does not update after saving, click Refresh license to force a re-check. Licenses are issued via Freemius and verified against NordicDataTools License Manager.
Analytics & verification code
An optional field for adding a single head-code snippet — Google Analytics, a Search Console verification tag, or similar. The code is output in the site <head> on the front end only, never in the admin.
Analytics & verification code
OptionalPaste your snippet exactly as provided by Google or your analytics service. For a single snippet this is the right place and avoids the need for a separate plugin. If you need multi-provider, consent-aware, or multisite-wide snippet management, use a dedicated plugin instead.
Best practices
- Always test the AI connection after saving a new API key — do not assume it works until the test confirms it
- Use
gpt-4o-minias your default model and only switch to a larger model if you find the output quality insufficient - For PageSpeed, add an API key if you plan to analyze more than a handful of pages per day — anonymous quota is shared across all WordPress sites using the API without a key
- For GSC, whitelist the redirect URI before starting the OAuth flow — this is the most common cause of connection failures
- If your plan does not reflect a recent purchase, use Refresh license rather than re-entering the key
Common questions
Is my API key safe?
Yes. Your key is stored in your WordPress database, the same place WordPress stores all site options. It is never sent to NordicDataTools — only to your configured AI provider when an analysis is run.
Can I use a model other than OpenAI?
Yes. Set Provider to Compatible endpoint and enter the endpoint URL for your service. This works with Azure OpenAI, local models via Ollama or LM Studio, and any service that implements the OpenAI chat completions API format.
The Test connection button returns an error
Common causes: the API key is incorrect or has been revoked, the model name does not exist on your account, or the compatible endpoint URL is wrong. Check each field carefully and try again. For compatible endpoints, confirm the URL ends at the chat completions path.
I saved my license key but my plan still shows Free
Click Refresh license to force a fresh check against the license server. If the issue persists, confirm the key matches your purchase exactly and contact support@nordicdatatools.com.
