Applying Suggestions
How to review, edit, and apply title, meta, FAQ, and schema suggestions from the analysis result — including what each type of change actually does to your site.
Nothing on your site changes automatically. Every suggestion must be reviewed and explicitly applied. You are always in control of what gets written to your pages.
How applying works
After running an analysis, each suggestion in the results view has an Apply or Use button next to it. Clicking that button opens a confirmation modal where you can review the exact change before it goes anywhere. Only after clicking Apply change in the modal does anything get saved.
Confirm change
×Review the suggested change before applying it to the page.
You can cancel at any point before confirming. Closing the modal or clicking Cancel leaves your page unchanged.
The four types of suggestions
Each suggestion type works differently in terms of where it writes data and how it interacts with other plugins.
Title & meta description
Writes to post fieldsApplying a title or meta suggestion writes the value directly to the post. If you have Yoast SEO or Rank Math installed, the plugin reads their existing fields for reference but writes to its own SEO Copilot AI fields — it does not overwrite your Yoast or Rank Math title unless you explicitly apply a change that targets those fields.
Before applying, the suggestion appears in an editable area in the results view. Edit the suggested text first if needed, then click Apply. The modal shows the final value before saving.
FAQ suggestions
SEO Copilot AI output onlyFAQ suggestions are saved to SEO Copilot AI’s own data fields — they do not modify your post content directly. When you apply an FAQ suggestion, it controls the SEO Copilot AI FAQ output for that page only. It does not remove or alter FAQ content added by other plugins or written directly in the page editor.
When applying FAQ suggestions, you are given two options:
Replace overwrites any previously saved SEO Copilot AI FAQ for this page. Merge combines the new suggestions with what is already saved. If your page has existing FAQ content from another plugin or the editor, applying here does not affect that content — it only controls what SEO Copilot AI outputs.
The FAQ textarea in the results view shows one question per line. Edit the lines before clicking Apply — remove any questions that do not fit your page, reword any that are too generic, and add specifics that match your content.
Schema / JSON-LD
SEO Copilot AI output onlySchema suggestions are saved to SEO Copilot AI’s own fields and output as JSON-LD in the page head. Applying a schema suggestion does not delete or overwrite structured data output by Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or your theme — it adds SEO Copilot AI’s own schema block alongside any existing markup.
When applying, you can choose:
The schema textarea shows the raw JSON. Edit it before applying — verify the @type matches the actual content type and that every property value is accurate. Never apply schema that does not truthfully describe the page.
Intro improvement
Editorial guidance onlyThe intro improvement is a suggestion for how to rewrite your page opening — it does not have an Apply button. It is presented as editorial guidance to read, take notes from, and apply manually in your page editor. This is intentional: intro rewrites require human judgment about tone, audience, and page context that the plugin cannot fully replicate.
Use it as a direction, not a finished draft.
The suggested rewrites panel
Below the main result cards, there is a compact suggested rewrites panel that shows the top title, meta, intro, FAQ, and schema suggestions side by side. Each item has a Use button. Clicking Use pre-fills the corresponding editable field in the main result card — it does not apply anything immediately. From there you can edit further before using the Apply button on that card.
This panel is useful for quickly scanning all suggestions in one view before deciding which ones to act on.
Best practices for applying suggestions
- Always read the suggested value in full before clicking Apply — do not apply without reviewing
- Edit title and meta suggestions to match your brand voice before applying — treat them as starting points, not finished copy
- Remove FAQ questions that are too generic or do not match your actual content before applying the FAQ block
- Verify schema
@typeand property values are factually accurate before applying — inaccurate schema can harm rather than help - Use the before/after simulation to decide if the expected score improvement justifies making the change
- After applying changes, re-run the analysis to get updated scores reflecting the new state of the page
What not to do
- Do not apply every suggestion blindly — some recommendations may not fit your specific page, audience, or brand
- Do not apply schema that does not accurately represent the page — this violates Google’s structured data guidelines
- Do not apply a title suggestion that changes the meaning of the page without updating the content to match
- Do not use the intro improvement suggestion as a direct copy-paste — it is directional guidance that needs editorial work
Applying suggestions is a starting point, not the final step. Changes made through the plugin still need to be verified in the WordPress editor and checked on the live page before you consider the optimization done.
Common questions
Will applying a title overwrite my Yoast or Rank Math title?
No. SEO Copilot AI writes to its own fields. It reads Yoast and Rank Math fields for analysis context but does not overwrite them unless you are applying a change that is explicitly targeting those fields. Check your Yoast or Rank Math settings after applying to confirm which title is being used for your page.
Can I undo an applied suggestion?
For title and meta changes, go to the page editor and update the field manually. For FAQ and schema, re-run the analysis, edit the suggestion in the textarea, and apply it again using Replace mode to overwrite the previously saved value.
The Apply button is greyed out or missing
This happens when no suggested value was generated for that field — usually because the analysis did not produce a suggestion for it or the suggestion was empty. Re-running the analysis with a more specific keyword or adding competitor URLs often produces suggestions where they were previously missing.
Where does the applied FAQ actually appear on the page?
FAQ suggestions are saved to SEO Copilot AI’s data fields and output as structured content. Whether and how it appears visually depends on your theme and any FAQ blocks you have in your page content. The schema associated with the FAQ is output in the page head as JSON-LD regardless of visual display.
