Getting Started
A practical introduction to SEO Copilot AI — what it does, what you need before you begin, and how to run your first optimization in under five minutes.
What SEO Copilot AI does
SEO Copilot AI analyzes your WordPress pages and posts against a target keyword and gives you clear, prioritized suggestions across three areas that shape how content is discovered today.
SEO
Titles, meta descriptions, headings, keyword alignment, internal clarity, and content structure for traditional search.
AEO
Answer-ready structure, FAQ readiness, schema, and direct-answer clarity for AI-powered search and answer engines.
E-E-A-T
Authority signals, source support, freshness cues, and content credibility for trust-oriented ranking factors.
The plugin does not publish or modify content automatically. Everything requires your explicit review and approval before anything changes on your site.
Before you begin
You need three things in place before running your first analysis:
- A WordPress site running WordPress 6.2 or later with PHP 8.0 or higher
- An OpenAI account with an API key — or any compatible endpoint such as Azure OpenAI or a local model
- The SEO Copilot AI plugin installed and activated (Free plan requires no license key)
OpenAI API costs are separate. The plugin uses your own API key. Usage is billed directly by OpenAI — typically less than $0.02 per analysis. This cost is not included in your SEO Copilot AI plan.
Recommended first flow
Follow these four steps during your first session to get useful results without unnecessary complexity.
Complete Settings first
Go to SEO Copilot AI → Settings and add your OpenAI API key. Choose a model — gpt-4o-mini is the default and works well for most analyses. If you have a Pro, Business, or Agency license, add your license key here as well.
Pick one important page
Go to SEO Copilot AI → Analyze. Start with a page that already matters to your business — a key landing page, a top product, or your most important blog post. Starting with something meaningful makes it easier to evaluate whether the suggestions are useful.
Enter your target keyword and run the analysis
Type the keyword you want that page to rank for in the Target keyword field. Optionally add up to three competitor page URLs for a richer comparison. Click Run analysis and wait a few seconds for the result.
Competitor URLs improve recommendation quality — they are optional but recommendedReview before applying anything
Read the SEO score, AEO score, priority explanation, and individual suggestions carefully. Use the before/after simulation to preview projected score changes. Apply only the suggestions that make sense for your page — skip the rest. The final editorial decision is always yours.
What you will see after analysis
A completed analysis returns several sections:
- SEO score — a numeric score reflecting title, meta, headings, and keyword alignment
- AEO score — a numeric score reflecting answer structure, FAQ readiness, and citation signals
- Priority explanation — a plain-language reason for why the page received its score
- Fix-this-first guidance — the highest-impact improvement to act on first
- Suggested title and meta description — alternative versions you can review and apply
- FAQ suggestions — question-and-answer pairs designed to improve answer-readiness
- JSON-LD schema suggestions — structured data you can review and apply
- Before/after simulation — a projected view of what your scores could look like after applying suggestions
What the plugin does not do
SEO Copilot AI is decision support, not automation. It does not guarantee search rankings, AI citations, featured snippets, or any specific visibility outcome. It analyzes your page and gives you better information to act on. Final results depend on many factors outside the plugin — content quality, domain authority, competition, and Google’s own systems.
Common first questions
Does the plugin change my content without asking?
No. Every suggestion requires your explicit approval. Nothing is modified unless you choose to apply it.
Will it conflict with Yoast SEO or Rank Math?
No. SEO Copilot AI reads existing Yoast and Rank Math meta fields and writes to its own fields. It does not overwrite meta managed by other plugins unless you explicitly apply a suggestion.
What counts as one AI operation?
Each successful analysis request counts as one operation. Reviewing saved results, reading scores, or browsing the monitoring view does not use extra operations.
I am on the Free plan. What are my limits?
Free includes 50 AI operations per month. Usage resets on the first day of each month. The Free plan covers single-page analysis, title and meta suggestions, FAQ suggestions, schema suggestions, and analysis history. Bulk analysis, PageSpeed integration, Google Search Console, and monitoring require a paid plan.
